Revealing the NIGHTSCAPE Wonders of the Australian Outback
Prepare to be spellbound as I unveil a series of captivating night photographs taken in the breathtaking landscape surrounding Alice Springs, often referred to as the heart, soul, and geographical center of Australia.
For years, these remarkable images remained concealed, as I held them to exceedingly high personal standards. However, in November 2023, I had an epiphany. I recognized the sheer beauty that had eluded me due to my own exacting standards. The longing for the Australian Outback, while residing in the bustling Netherlands, slowly transformed into a sense of tranquility.
Today, I proudly present this collection, meticulously re-edited using cutting-edge software to do justice to these photos, the starry skies, and the breathtaking natural beauty that once left me awe-inspired during my time in Australia.
But the journey doesn’t end there. I’ve ventured into the realm of astrophotography in the Netherlands, embracing the challenge of capturing the stars in this seemingly unlikely setting. When a friend dared me, asserting it was an impossible feat, my response was simple: “Nothing is impossible.”

The photograph of the Colosseum, a cherished snapshot from my European sojourn, stands as a testament to the diversity of my experiences. During my visit, I had the privilege of observing many colleague wedding photographers at work, a reminder of our shared passion for capturing life’s timeless moments.

DUTCH: “Welkom bij mijn fotocollectie met nachtlandschappen van de Australische Outback, met name in en rond Alice Springs. Deze foto’s beslaan de jaren 2010 tot 2018 en omvatten eerder ongepubliceerde werken die ik ooit van zeer hoge standaarden vond. In het verleden hebben slechts een handvol van mijn beste foto’s het daglicht gezien. Echter, ruim 15 jaar later, hebben verbeteringen in ruisreductie en fotobewerkingssoftware me in staat gesteld om deze ‘verborgen’ foto’s opnieuw te bekijken en te herbewerken.
Deze lang verwaarloosde beelden zijn nu tevoorschijn gekomen als echte verborgen schatten, geduldig wachtend op hun moment om te schitteren. Met de nieuwste software tot mijn beschikking kan ik eindelijk recht doen aan deze foto’s en ze presenteren zoals ik deze betoverende scènes met mijn eigen ogen heb gezien tijdens die opmerkelijke nachten in de Outback.
In fotografie gaat het niet alleen om het vastleggen van momenten; het gaat erom de emoties en herinneringen te delen die ermee gepaard gaan.
